Dearly Dedicated

Ever looked at someone, and realized for the rest of your life you would be willing to give anything to keep them smiling? That if you could keep them happy for one moment longer you’ll have fulfilled part of life’s purpose? I did once. I decided that anything would be worth her smile, as I watched her cry into a trash can. On that day I promised myself that I would always be there for this girl, so for her this is Dearly Dedicated.

When I look at you, I picture us sitting on a lonely park bench. Not talking, not interacting, just taking in the world around us. Part of me knows that you haven’t always been sitting there beside me, but for the life of me I can’t picture that bench without you.

When I hug you I picture us watching fall leaves dance through the air, while we sit on a lonely park bench. Not talking, not interacting, just silently marveling at life’s beautiful depiction of renewal. Part of me knows that I’ve seen leaves fall all around me before, but for the life of me I can’t remember them being so breathtaking.

When I cry with you I picture us watching a storm on a lonely park bench. Not talking, not interacting, just silently letting the rain wash over us. Part of me knows that I’ve been caught in a storm before, but for the life of me I can’t remember not being scared as the world cried all around me.

When I’m with you I picture us on a park bench. Not talking, not interacting, just silently letting life slow down around us. Part of me knows that I’ve sat on this bench before, but for the life of me I can’t remember the last time when that bench didn’t seem lonely.

Tears to the Sky

Someone once asked me what it was like,

To live without having to cry.

So I stopped and I thought,

Took a deep breath,

And gazed up into the sky.

I told them to imagine each and every star,

As if it was a winking eye,

And promised that if they did,

Friends would be in no short supply.

Looking up, they held back tears,

And said they couldn’t stop even if they tried.

So I took their hand,

And looking up,

We cried, and cried, and cried.

  1. I wish my comments could be as touching as your writings but you know why they are not. So I am left just leaving my normal comment……..❤️ Because you are my heart.
